When a disc needs traction, not adjusting
Some problems are compression problems. A bulging or herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, cervical radiculopathy or a genuinely pinched nerve are all cases where the tissue is being squashed, and restoring joint movement on its own does not take that pressure off.
Sciatica is the clearest example. Pain running down the leg is rarely a leg problem, and when the source is a disc pressing on a nerve root, the useful thing to do is to unload the disc rather than to keep working the joint that is complaining about it.

Working through a course rather than a session
Decompression is not a one visit fix and it is not sold as one. Disc problems respond to repeated, gradual unloading over a course of appointments, and progress is reviewed as you go rather than assumed.
